St. Albans NY Cremation and Funeral Home Services

Funeral Home and Cremation Services in St. Albans, New York

Create a Healing Experience at Paul Lane Funeral Home

A funeral is an opportunity to reflect on the life of your loved one. It is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense. You and the ones you love are at the very center of the process, and the choices you make will determine its significance for you. When you participate in the planning of the funeral service, you help create a meaningful experience for everyone.

At the Paul Lane Funeral Home, which services the residents in St. Albans, we encourage families to create very personalized services. It is important to acknowledge the life that has been lived and to offer to the community a way to celebrate that unique life. By offering services and memorialization features that are personal and special, a unique life can be remembered and honored in an individualized way that is comforting to the family and friends.

Burial or Cremation?

Burial and Cremation offer the same services, including music, prayers, and recitations of your choice. You can have viewing and visitation arrangements, with an open or closed casket (or no casket at all if holding a Memorial Service) for as long or as short a period as you wish. Here’s what we offer for both Burial and Cremation:

Cremation

It is important to remember that cremation is not a funeral, it is a means of disposition. Cremated remains should be cared for with the same dignity as a body buried in a casket. We will provide helpful guidance to you and your family on how to incorporate cremation with a meaningful and appropriate way to acknowledge a life well lived.

· The Complete Cremation Service (or Cremation Service with Viewing) will be just like a Funeral Service except cremation will follow instead of the casketed burial. This can be accommodated by the use of a cremation casket (casket that is designed to be cremated) or a rental casket. Following the viewing and service, the cremated remains can be buried, placed into a columbarium, properly scattered, or returned to the family for safe keeping. Urns are used to hold the cremated remains. Urns can be constructed out of basic materials like cardboard or plastic, or constructed out of more durable materials like basic and semi-precious metals, ceramics, and woods.

· A Memorial Service is one where the body is not present. We recommend that if you select an immediate cremation that you consider having some type of service or ceremony. Acknowledgement of their life is also a key ingredient to a healthy recovery of after a loss due to a death.

In some situations families have us direct cremate their loved one and then mail the ashes to them in the state they live in without coming to NY for face to face arrangements. Whatever you specific situation, we will guide you through your available options.

Burial

· Immediate Burial: In this instance, your loved one’s physical remains are entombed without a public service or gathering.

· Visitation: Also referred to as a “wake” or “viewing”, visitation allows friends and family to commune with each other in honoring the departed who is either in an open or closed casket. This provides a chance for loved ones to say goodbye while offering their sympathy and support.

· Funeral or Memorial Services: Can be held in a funeral home, church, or even at your home. The service is comprised of a ceremony in which the life of the loved one is honored, celebrated, and remembered. Whether traditional or unique, both the visitation and funeral service can be personalized to reflect the individuality of your loved one. A Funeral Service is having services with the body present. A Memorial Service is having a ceremony without the body present.

· Graveside, Chapel, or Committal Services: These types of services are held at the cemetery and allow family and friends to be present as their loved one is transferred to his or her final disposition through ground burial.
