Obituary

Leon Gregory Street was born at Little Flowers Hospital in Manhattan, New York on December 10, 1961 to loving parents Leroy Street and Annie Mae Lettlow.

Leon obtained his degree and numerous certifications in HIV Education and Prevention. Leon loved teaching and educating people on how to be safe and keep healthy.

Leon authored a book, “White Trials Black Tribulations.” In his book he explored the racial tensions between the two races. His in-depth knowledge and understanding of human nature, current and social events was impressive.

Leon spoke five languages: English, Spanish, American Sign Language, Arabic and Hindi.
Despite all of his accomplishments, Leon’s two sons, Dwayne Dixon and Trimell Jackson were his pride and joy. Leon loved them and would talk about them every time we were together.

Some of Leon’s favorite things to do were: Debating with lifelong friends – Anthony Ashley, Quaasim Rashidi and Kenneth Inniss. They would spend countless hours talking about everything. He loved walking Rex and Mr. Munchie. Both dogs would cry and scratch the doors before Leon arrived. Both of them still cry and wait for him. Leon loved making people laugh with his outrageous stories, jokes and impersonations. Leon loved old school music especially Roger & Zapp. Leon loved to reminisce about his childhood. The memories always made him smile. The best way to describe Leon is rambunctious.

Leon touched many lives and will be sorely missed. Leon leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing: sons - Dwayne Dixon and Trimell Jackson (Taisha Ortiz); grandchildren Faith Jackson and Solomon Dixon; siblings – Paul and Peter Cooper, Helen Lettlow, Linda and Theresa Street and Carol Davis. His one true love – Alicia Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Lovingly Submitted
