Obituary

Evon Miller, was born to Robert Benjamin (D) and Estee (Kimble) Franklin (D) on February 23, 1941 in Monetta, South Carolina. Evon was the second of seven children born from this union. Barbara Kelley (D), Deloris Anderson (D) Robert B. Franklin Jr. (D), Mattie Jones, Juanita Martineau, Lamott Franklin and Linda Brown.

Evon moved to New York at the age of twelve. She attended P.S.42, J.H.S 8, and Woodrow Wilson High School in Jamaica, New York. She met John R. Miller (D) and married on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1958. Four children were born from this union; Michele (Miller) Samuels-Furey, Debbie E. Miller, Veronica Miller and John R. Miller Jr. (Shi-Kisa Miller) and Arlene Stokes

Evon worked in New York City for 35 years, retired, and enjoyed life. Traveling was her specialty. She traveled to Europe, the Caribbean, and across the United States. Her favorite place to visit was Las Vegas. Her favorite travel companions were her sisters, Juanita, Barbara and Mattie and cousin Betty. She was the head of the Franklin Family Reunion Committee for over fifteen years. She felt so strongly about traveling that she invested in countless trips for family, friends, and neighbors. She created memories that would last a lifetime.

Her willingness to give to others was unmatched. There was nothing that anyone was not able to ask her for including advice. Her laugh was contagious and her devotion to family was inspiring. She was a loving matriarch and was regarded as "The Soul of the Family."

Evon leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Michele, Debbie, Veronica and John Jr.. Her sisters and brother , Mattie Jones (Donald Jones), Juanita Martineau and Lamott Franklin (Dorthory Franklin) and Linda Brown.

Can’t express the love that I felt for Evon...she was like my second mother...such a big heart, gave me good advice on several occasions. I’m going to miss her laughter, her stories, her advice and her hugs. I know she’s having a good time with our Lord and savior. She’s also partying with my family members that are gone. She loved my mom and dad, so they are rejoicing her presence. I’ll miss you, mom #2..❤️❤️❤️😞😞😞🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
